Irene (Striplin) Ledom

April 25, 1924 ~ July 1, 2018 (age 94)




Elizabeth Irene Ledom, 94, of Pleasant Hill, was born April 25, 1924, in Ottawa, Kansas, the daughter of Wesley Miles and Georgia Lee (Bunyan) Striplin.  She departed this life Sunday, July 1, 2018, at the Westwood Living Center in Clinton.

On August 6, 1941, she was united in marriage to Golde Max Ledom in Ottawa, Kansas.  He preceded her in death on January 17, 2006.

Irene was a homemaker. She loved shopping on QVC, redecorating and arranging furniture, knitting (she made an afghan for all her grandchildren), and teaching ceramic painting.  She especially enjoyed fussing over her grandchildren. One of her traits, which many will fondly remember, is that she always wore earrings; as soon as she woke up she put them on.

She was also preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her son Dr. Wesley M. (and Barbara) Ledom Prairie Village, Kansas; her daughter, Brenda Davis of Raytown; special daughter Judy Ledom of Prairie Village; 5 grandchildren, Devin (and Arika) Ledom of Overland Park, Heather (and Robert) Meyer of Prairie Village, Patrice (and Kenny) Adams and Todd (and Samantha) Dinges, all of Pleasant Hill, and Jake Ledom of Prairie Village; 10 great grandchildren, Landry Ledom and Lawson Ledom both of Overland Park,  Brianna Welch and Alexis Meyer, both of Prairie Village;  Stephen (and Sara) Adams of Birmingham, Alabama, Spencer Adams of Springfield, Missouri, Trisha (and Taylor) Scrivner, of Peculiar, Johnnie Berry, Macee Adams, and Hayden Dinges, all of Pleasant Hill; 2 great great grandchildren, Einsley Scrivner, Brayden Adams; other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 6, 2018, at the funeral home.  Family and friends will officiate.  Interment will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery.  Casket bearers are Kenny Adams, Spencer Adams, Johnnie Berry, Todd Dinges, Devin Ledom, and Jake Ledom.

Visitation will be held 9:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Pleasant Hill Lay Clergy Council and may be sent in care of the funeral home
