E.C. Schmoll, Jr.

July 28, 1946 ~ May 14, 2018 (age 71)

Ernest Charles “E.C.” Schmoll, Jr. 71, of Pleasant Hill, was born, July 28, 1946, in Harrisonville, the son of Ernest Charles, Sr. and Edna Althea (Rice) Schmoll.  He departed this life Monday, May 14, 2018, at his home, surrounded with love and family.

E.C. was a 1964 Pleasant Hill High School graduate.  While in high school he excelled in football and track. He was voted as having the “Best Physique” his senior year.

On August 29, 1964, he was united in marriage to Vicki Ferguson at the First Baptist Church in Pleasant Hill; they later divorced.

E.C. had been employed by Western Electric, Lee’s Summit. He was a gifted flat worker working for himself, Lloyd Roll Construction, and D.L. Webster Construction.  He enjoyed gardening, working horses, watching the Dallas Cowboys and the Kentucky Derby.  He especially loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.

E.C. was preceded in death by his father Ernest in 1997, his mother Althea in 2016, one sister, Joyce Kirk in 2017, and brothers-in-law, Carl Epps in 2006 and Jim Kirk in 2015.

He is survived by his son Mutt (and Candy) Schmoll of Greenwood; two daughters, Shelli (and Logan) Cornell of Greenwood, and Debbi (and John) Sparks of Raymore; nine grandchildren, Dakota Schmoll, Levi Schmoll, Dalton Cornell, Dylan Cornell, Derek Cornell, Delaney Cornell, Landry Sparks, Jenna Sparks, and Lucy Sparks; one sister, Bonnie Epps of Grandview; other relatives and friends.

Visitation was held Monday, May 21, 2018, at the funeral home.

Funeral services were held  Tuesday, May 22, 2018, at the funeral home. Reverend David Hackett officiated.  Interment was in the Staley Mound Cemetery.  Casket bearers were Dalton Cornell, Dylan Cornell, Derek Cornell, Dakota Schmoll, Levi Schmoll, and Randy Russell.  Honorary casket bearers were Bill Babylon, Dusty Beattie, Jim Beattie, Gary Carter, and Ron Cartmill.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Staley Mound Cemetery and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
