CARL E. BAKER
Carl Elliott Baker, 83, of Belton, Missouri, formerly of Memphis, Tennessee, was born, May 23, 1936, in Bloomington, Illinois, the son of Clifton and Naomi (Garrison) Baker. He departed this life, Friday, October 25, 2019, at the Beautiful Savior Nursing Home in Belton.
Carl attended high school in Godfrey, Illinois. He left school early to join the Marines. He later earned his Bachelor’s degree from the Longview/Pioneer College in Kansas City.
Carl was a United States Marine Corps Veteran serving in both the Korean and Vietnam War.
On August 2, 1958, he was united in marriage to Jan Deloris Baker: they later divorced.
Carl spent his entire career in the Marine Corp. Following his retirement he was employed at the Marine Corps Finance Center in Kansas City and for Bendex. He enjoyed fishing and watch sports especially the Kansas City Royals and the Kansas City Chiefs.
Carl was preceded in death his parents; his ex-wife Jan; two brothers, Don Baker and Robert Baker; and one sister, Phyllis Beckworth.
Carl is survived by two sons, Brian Baker of Pleasant Hill, Missouri and Bruce Baker of Memphis, Tennessee; two daughters, Broshel (and David) Gray of Holden, Missouri, and Belynda Baker of Kansas City, Kansas; four grandchildren, Brandi Cheney of Holden, Missouri, Trevor (and Samantha) Baker of Raytown, Missouri, Natalie Baker and Brittany Schoning, both of Kansas City, Kansas; ten great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Cremation has been accorded.
A memorial service was held Thursday, October 31, 2019, at the funeral home. Reverend D. Kent Deubner officiated. Full military honors were conducted by the United States Marine Corps and the V.F.W. Post #3118 Honor Guard.
