Charles Arthur Covey, 56, of Pleasant Hill, formerly of Omaha, Nebraska, was born Sunday, April 15, 1956, in Omaha, the son of William Arthur and Martha Naomi (Cunningham) Covey. He departed this life Sunday, June 15, 2012, at his home in Pleasant Hill.

As a young man Charles was active in Boy Scouts achieving the rank of Eagle Scout. He was a 1974 graduate of William Jennings Brian Senior High in Omaha.

He was an avid reader and history buff. He was a member of the Mosier Wheeler Presbyterian Church in Omaha.

Charles was preceded in death by his mother Martha in 2009.

He is survived by two daughters Melissa Covey of Orlando, Florida, and Sarah Covey of Omaha; his father Bill of Pleasant Hill; one brother William A. (and Cindy) Covey, Jr. of Springfield, Missouri; one sister Naomi Downey of Pleasant Hill; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Thursday, July 19, 2012, at the funeral home. Reverend Sarah Ross minister of the Pleasant Hill 1st Presbyterian Church officiated. Interment was the Coffey Cemetery, Coffey, Missouri.
